About Me

My name is James Castleden. I’ve been teaching English as a foreign language for over 15 years. I have a Masters in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from the University of Leicester, and a Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) from Cambridge University. I am also an ex-IELTS examiner.

That’s me with Fred.

Last year I noticed that there is a serious lack of good quality test preparation for the IELTS exam, especially for people that don’t live in big cities, so I stopped teaching full-time to put all my efforts into the IELTS Step-by-step courses, which I offer on udemy.com. I also post free course videos on YouTube. My aim with IELTS Step-by-step is to help you achieve your academic goals using the power of the Internet and technology, no matter where you live.

I’m looking forward to having you as my student, and being the first step in your exciting journey to an English-speaking university or country.

  1. Hi there,
James, I just found your Mastering Listening course on udemy.com, and I need your advice. I am working on my listening for last 4 endless months and there is no improvement so far. Results are usually 7-7.5, if I work on paper-based tests and 6.5 when I use computer-based ones through youtube video.
I already have been working with 2 personal tutors and they helped me to improve my essays and speaking, but there is no improvement in the listening part.
I also bought a paid course on AEhelp.com, but I found it uninteresting.
    What would you advise?

  2. Hi Mr. James Castleden,
I am interested on your combo Master Listening and Reading course. I would very happy if could let me know your payment details as well as how to connect you online classes.

  3. Hey Teacher Castleden,
I need some suggestion from which course I need to start I want to buy all the course but first, I want to start it from vocabulary and what do you think about it and do you provide any course materials for practicing everything? I only want to see your video and practice your materials(if you provide it). I don’t want to spend my time on outside resources because I want to follow 60days roadmap to gain 7+ scores.

    Regards,
    Rafsan Jani Mahmud
